This website details how Exxon funds global warming skeptics. Does this mean that every scientist who is skeptical of global warming is being paid off? No. Does it mean that every skeptical claim can be summarily dismissed? No. It just means that Exxon does actively fund skeptics. It is not an urban legend.

Finally
In response to the name of this thread I would wholeheartedly say Yes and No. Yes the Globe is warming...but as I have asserted before, I don't think that Mankind is the Only or Main cause of this trend. I have always asserted that the sun plays a greater role than mankind, and I am constantly met with rebuke. Granted my approach is less than scientific and based more on history and esoteric conspiracy theory. For example I discovered the link between global warming and the sunspot cycles in my research on the Mayans. This was in the very early 90's before the whole global warming juggernaut got off the ground.
I think that the co2 discussion is a red herring to lure us into a world government through the imposition of laws and taxes meant to offset "manmade" global warming.
Personally I think that the green movement is healthy for the world and humanity as a whole, though I am suspicious as all Hell of Al Gore and his ilk.

An Ironic twist is that I hear that Bush's Crawford Ranch is Off the grid and green.

This is an interesting article...

"WASHINGTON - This winter was the warmest on record worldwide, the U.S. government said Thursday in the latest worrisome report focusing on changing climate.
The report comes just over a month after the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said global warming is very likely caused by human actions and is so severe it will continue for centuries.
And a NASA study reported Thursday in the journal Science found that an important counter-balance to warming — sunlight blocked by volcanic gases, dust, pollution and other aerosol particles — appears to have weakened."
It appears that "global dimming" is now being taken into account in regards to global warming. The sad thing is that the cleaner we become, the more we accelerate climate change. Could this be a motivation for so many major corporations to clean up their businesses? Is the green movement itself part of the conspiracy to increase global warming to a point where we will need to institute global government in order to control it?
Talk about dialectic!
